Jancsó világsikert arató filmje a mai napig ismeretlen Oroszországban, mert a szovjetek cenzúrázták és teljesen átvágták.

This documentary film is about the creation of Miklós Jancsó’s work Csillagosok, katonák (The Red and the White) filmed in the Soviet Union in 1967. Besides Jancsó and Márta Mészáros, the documentary includes other figures such as Oscar winning director and actor Nikita Mikhalkov, who plays a role in the movie. The editors had to work around the circumstances of the situation whereby the Soviet party preferred to see a romantic adventure film for the 50th anniversary of the socialist revolution, whereas Jancsó wanted to place the civil war under a new and universal light. Jancsó’s film that reaped successes around the globe is unknown in Russia to this day because the Soviets censored and totally reedited it.
