Bővebben a filmről

A 60-as években feltörő, a valóság kegyetlen jelenségeit szikár naturalizmussal megragadó jugoszláv „novi film” alighanem a Mikor halott és fehér leszek után vált „fekete filmmé” a vezetés szemében. Az irányzat egyik kulcsfigurája, a politikai csatározások kereszttüzében alkotó szerb Živojin Pavlović műve keserű látlelet a sikertelen 1965-ös reform utáni Jugoszláviáról.

Yugoslavian ‘novi (new) film’ that came to prominence in the 1960s, capturing the cruel phenomena of reality with stark naturalism, probably became – in the eyes of the political leadership – ‘black film’ after the release of When I Am Dead and Gone. The work of one of the leading figures of this trend, Serbian Živojin Pavlović who constantly worked in the crossfire of political skirmishes, is a bitter commentary on Yugoslavia after the failed reforms of 1965. Janko, a young seasonal labourer, and his fiancée find themselves unemployed at the end of summer. Having stolen from his workmates, the boy heads off to Belgrade where, encouraged by a blonde singer, he also plans to become a vocalist. Even after lengthy, although sometimes enjoyable, wandering and many ups and downs, he still cannot find his place in society.
